About Alice
Alice Barlow is a Georgia native, rooted in the traditions of the South and instilled with a love of Southern soil and Southern people.
“I’ve learned that, no matter their birthright, people become Southerners the moment they embrace that desire to make the South their home. Here on the coast, we like to repeat the old saying that if you get some of our sand in your shoes, you will always return. I know that was true for my husband and me!”
The journey that brought Alice to the Golden Isles was one filled with experiences that have shaped her into who she is today: a person who loves people, loves learning, and loves the Golden Isles!
Background
Alice Barlow was born in Atlanta and grew up with the Emory University campus as her playground. While attending Druid Hills High school and volunteering as a candy stripper at Egleston Children’s Hospital, she discovered her first passion: nursing. After following the family tradition of study at Young Harris College, she went on to win her BSN from East Tennessee State University.
Alice married Emory graduate Fred Barlow, her “best friend for life!” The next thirty years found Alice in Detroit for Fred’s graduate studies, and then in Tennessee, working as a critical care RN and raising three children.
Although the first three decades of marriage had carried them away from Georgia, the Barlow’s move to Saint Simons seemed destined.
“I got some of that coastal sand in my shoes, and knew that this is where I want to spend the rest of my life!”
Beliefs (Alice on Alice)
I believe that to achieve not only success in life, but true joy in living, a person must be a lifelong learner. I love to explore new avenues and learn new things! The way I like to operate is to reinvent myself occasionally; real estate has been the ultimate way for me to do just that. The excitement of learning all of the ins and outs of the business – and especially the ways in which our wonderful new world of information technology can be utilized – keeps me invigorated and motivated.
I think of myself as a hard worker. I’m thorough, I pay close attention to details, and . . .
I love this business.
I love the learning.
I stay current on Real estate by taking every continuing education course that comes along, and I relish the use of computer-based outreach – virtual tours, etc. – to serve clients.
I love people.
Getting to know my clients and helping them embrace their dreams is my passion!
I love the Golden Isles.
This is absolutely the most welcoming community imaginable!
